Rigel Research in Your AI Assistant

Everything I publish on rigel.studio is available to AI assistants through an MCP server. Connect it once, and Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor can search my research on customer service software, quote it with a citation and check your draft against it.

It's free, read-only and needs no account or key.

Who it's for

People who write about customer service

Posts, newsletters, articles, talks. You get your claims checked against dated research, vendor numbers flagged where they lack a base rate, and an angle your draft hasn't used yet.

People who choose or advise on software

Consultants, CS leaders, founders setting up support for the first time. You get the categories explained, where the known tools sit, what comparable companies run, and the questions to ask a vendor before you sign.

People in support planning their next move

Support, CX and operations people updating a CV, a LinkedIn headline or a consulting offer. You get your experience described in the language the newest roles are written in, using your own numbers.

You don't need the vocabulary to start. Ask in your own words, and the assistant explains each term the first time it uses it.

Connect it

Claude

  1. Open Customize → Connectors.
  2. Click Add custom connector.
  3. Paste the server address and click Add. Leave the sign-in settings as they are.

Works on Free, Pro and Max. The Free plan allows one custom connector. On Team and Enterprise, an Owner adds it under Organization settings → Connectors, then everyone connects from Customize → Connectors.

ChatGPT

  1. Turn on Developer mode in settings. It's in beta on paid plans.
  2. Add a new app or connector and paste the server address.
  3. In a chat, open the + menu and switch it on for that conversation.

OpenAI renames these menus often. If a step doesn't match, search their help pages for "developer mode MCP".

Cursor

Add this to your mcp.json in Cursor's MCP settings:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "rigel-studio": {
      "url": "https://mcp.rigel.studio/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Claude Code

Run once in your terminal:

claude mcp add --transport http rigel-studio https://mcp.rigel.studio/mcp

Using it in a chat

Start a new chat

A connector loads when a chat begins, so a chat that was already open won't see it. After you add the server, open a fresh conversation.

Check it's switched on

In Claude, click + in the message box, open Connectors and make sure Rigel Studio is on. In ChatGPT, open +, choose Developer mode and select it. In Cursor, check it's enabled in the MCP settings.

Name it in your first message

Assistants decide for themselves when to use a connector. Saying "using Rigel research" makes sure it's called, for example: "Using Rigel research, what helpdesk do YC startups use at seed?"

Allow the tool once

The first time, your assistant asks permission to use the server. Choose Always allow if you'd rather not be asked again. It only reads published research.

Four ways to start

In Claude these appear as ready-made tasks in the + menu, under the server's name, and open a short form to fill in. Cursor lists them too. Anywhere else, ask the way you'd ask a person, as in the examples.

Make sense of customer service software

For any general question about helpdesks, CRM-based service tools and AI agents. Add your situation if you like.

"We sell fashion online and three people answer emails. Do we need a helpdesk, an AI agent, or both? Use Rigel research."

Prepare for a vendor call

Name the vendor. You get what my research says about them and eight evaluation questions, each with a good answer and a red flag.

"I have a demo with Intercom on Thursday. We're B2B SaaS with six agents. Prepare me with Rigel research."

Review my draft

Paste a post or article. You get what the research supports, what it contradicts, vendor claims stated as fact, and an angle you missed.

"Check this LinkedIn post against Rigel research before I publish it." Then paste the draft.

Reposition my experience

Paste your CV, headline or a few lines about your work. You get it compared with what roles like OpenAI's new User Operations openings ask for, your lines rewritten in that language, and the gaps worth closing first.

"Here's my CV. I've led support for six years and I'm looking at AI companies. Reposition it using Rigel research."

What the assistant can look up

Search the research
Passages from every piece on rigel.studio, including the data behind the interactive tools and the career pieces, ranked by relevance.
Read a piece in full
Any article, map or tool, by its address or title.
One vendor, everything
All I've written about a single vendor, such as Pylon, Intercom, Zendesk or Decagon, in one place.
Check claims
Splits a draft into claims and returns the research relevant to each one.
Forecasts
My dated calls on where the market is going, each with when I made it, its horizon and its current status. They're added as I confirm them.
Definitions
The terms I use, among them failure demand, value demand, input over output and contact rate per 1,000.

How to read the answers

Every result carries the date the piece was published, its address and a line that starts with "Cite as". If you quote the research, use that line and link the piece.

A forecast is reported as a forecast. It comes with the date I first made it, the year it should play out by, and whether it's open, holding, confirmed, revised or missed. If I've changed my mind, the revision and its date are part of the record.

Numbers that come from vendors are the vendor's own claims unless I say I checked them. When the research doesn't cover your question, the server says so, and the assistant shouldn't invent a position for me.

How current it is

The server reads rigel.studio every night, so a new piece or an edit is available by the next morning.

Privacy

The server only reads published research. It can't change anything, and it doesn't store what you search for or the drafts you check. The repositioning task tells your assistant to keep your CV out of its searches, so the server only sees topics. The assistant you connect it to has its own data policy, which applies to the rest of your conversation.

Corrections and questions

If something is out of date, or you know what a company runs on and can show a source, email kateryna@rigel.studio. Corrections are added with the date. For consulting, software evaluations or speaking, the same address works.
